Inspection: What to Expect and How to Prepare

All of our services begin with an inspection. This allows us to understand what is going on and to prepare a plan to help you. Even if your wildlife appears straightforward, an inspection is still necessary to find any information that may be relevant. Common areas that we will inspect include the attic, basement, crawl space, deck, perimeter of the home, and any other areas you are concerned about. To prepare for an inspection, make sure you know where all the important access areas in your home are (attic hatches, pipe access panels, crawl space doors, etc.). We will provide all equipment necessary for the inspection. It can be helpful to us if you are able to record the noise you are hearing or other evidence before we arrive, but is not necessary. Finally, we will perform a thorough inspection and provide photos of any wildlife evidence. We use the facts that we find during inspection to put together a plan to solve your problem!

Pest Prevention

Some homeowners like to get ahead of their wildlife problems. Maybe you have experienced wildlife problems in a previous home or know someone that has, and you want to get ahead. After all, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of treatment. Here are some tips to prevent animals from entering your home:

  • Keep landscaping neat, don't provide hiding places

  • Do not leave food or trash in a place that may draw wildlife

  • Keep up with routine home maintenance

    • Repair rotting wood

    • Paint and caulk your home periodically

    • Watch for cracks in foundation or between bricks

  • Occasionally check/clean areas in your home that don't get used frequently (basement, under sink, closets)

Sometimes you can do all of these things and you may still develop a pest problem. My Critter Pro is always here to help whether you have an active problem or just want an inspection to make sure you are "in the clear."
